Gujarat Declared Best e-Governed State

Gujarat bagged the award for the `Best e-governed State’ for 2006-07 at the 42nd Computer Society India(CSI) Convention, organised to recognise the best e-governance initiatives in the country, especially in the government sector. A total of 17 awards were presented.

Other highlights:

  1. Goa, Jharkhand, Kerala were declared as joint winners of the `Progressive e-Governed State’
  2. Department of Electricity of Lakshadweep, and Department of Health and Family Welfare, Gujarat were declared joint winners under the `Best e-governed Department’ category
  3. The Department of Education, Delhi, bagged the special jury award under the same category for its initiative in the admission, examination and management of teachers.
  4. The state of Gujarat bagged awards in four categories– best e-governed state, best e-governed department (health and famly welfare), best e-governance G2B project for e-procurement and also for VAT informations System.
  5. The state of Madhya Pradesh bagged awards for best e-governance project G2C for child information system and for the project titled `Samdadhan Ek Din Me’, providing documents in one day, and was runner up for the project on basic services and amenities management programme.
  6. Kerala won awards in two categories for centralised allotment process for professional course admissions and best e-governance project G2G/G2GE category.
  7. IRCTC also won the award for its Web-based rail reservation while PESO from Nagpur was the runner up for the best e-governance project G2B.
